Pipes & Barrels Release
Mark your calendars for June 8-11 and help us celebrate our newest collab release!
We have teamed up with Brouwerij De Leite in Oostkamp to create two amazing collaboration beers.
At its core, the beer is a blend of 70% De Leite Bon Homme and 30% Oud Beersel Lambic.
At Oud Beersel, we filled two pipes in early March 2021 with Bon Homme and topped them off with 30% Lambic. This blend then aged for 26 months until the barrels were recently emptied and bottled. Our blend is named “Pipes and Barrels.”
At Brouwerij De Leite, they followed the same process – filling a barrel with both Bon Homme and Oud Beersel Lambic at the same proportions.
Their blend is named “Barrels and Pipes.”
Both beers do an amazing job of showcasing the different effects that different barrels and expertise can have on aging.

OUD BEERSEL CASTLE WALK

During this event, you will explore the Oud Beersel Brewery on a guided tour – learning how we use spontaneously fermented beers to create our blends of Oude Geuze and Oude Kriek. You will, of course, enjoy a tasting of Oude Geuze as well as a kriek-infused chocolate.
Next, you will meander through the cherry orchard, or ‘Kriekerij,’ just behind our brewery as you work your way towards the Beersel Castle. Although just 10km from Brussels, this part of the Senne Valley offers amazing views of the nature and wildlife that Flemish Brabant has to offer.
During the walk, you will learn about the bombardment of the Beersel Castle back in 1489. It was then that cannons, situated in what is now the Kriekerij, fired upon the castle in an effort to thwart the rule of the Holy Roman Emperor. Analyzing the ballistics and trajectory from cannonballs found inside the castle walls, it was determined that they were fired from right where our Schaarbeekse cherry trees are currently growing!
Once you reach the castle, you’ll receive a brief introduction to its history and, of course, another tasting of Lambic beer. In total, the event should last about 2.5 hours and will be an amazing way to learn about our beers and our history.
LAMBIC BLENDING EXPERIENCE

During this event, you will be guided through a tasting of Lambics of Oud Beersel that will showcase the many traits and profiles of these different beers. The Lambics, both young and old, will be hand-selected from different demi-muids, pipes, and foeders, and will help you discover how this special beer ferment and matures over time. Don’t miss the opportunity to taste such a varied range of pure Lambics from Oud Beersel!
GEUZE BOTTLING WORKSHOP

Interested in learning how to turn a blend of Lambics into a bottle of Oude Geuze? During this workshop, you will learn about the basics on how to blend different Lambic beers, both on sensory level as on technical level. You will assist in the bottling and take some bottles home to let them ferment and crack them open on a beautiful day.
TOER DE GEUZE

Toer de Geuze is a major bi-yearly event, organised by HORAL and its members. Many Lambic breweries open their doors to the big public during that weekend and you can visit all of them for free.
Come by at Oud Beersel during the Toer de Geuze to have an enchanted experience and feel the shared passion for Lambic beers by both locals and international visitors.
WALKING AND BIKING

In the surroundings of Oud Beersel, you will find an incredible network of trails and scenic walking routes that are second to none in Belgium. Exploring the Senne Valley on foot or by bike, especially with a glass of Oude Geuze, might just be the best way to experience our region. Here, you will find yourself disconnected from the fast pace of city life and hidden from busy highways with nothing but nature and Lambic beers to enjoy.
You will pass by historic monuments, be immersed in the rural sounds of the Senne Valley, and sometimes, you’ll find that your only source of company is a pasture full of cows. We consider ourselves very lucky to have this available to us right in our backyard.
If you have time to explore, check out the Castle of Beersel, Beer Center De Lambiek, the old Herisem paper mill and try some beers and local food at the local bars and restaurants.
