What we process, and why
An order in our web shop
When you place an order, we process your name, billing and delivery address, email address, telephone number and the contents of your order. We use this to handle, ship and invoice your order, and to contact you about it.
Your payment details never reach us. Payment is handled by PAY.nl; we only receive confirmation that payment was made.
Booking a brewery visit or guided tour
When you book a visit, we process your name, email address, telephone number, the number of people, the date and time you chose, and the language you would like the tour in. We use this to plan the visit, assign a guide and confirm your booking.
Two days after your visit we send you one email asking whether you would like to leave a review. You are under no obligation, and we send no reminder afterwards.
Filling in a form
The site carries several forms: the contact form, group visit requests, Bierhuis reservations and sign-ups for activities such as the Kesterbeek walk or the conversation tables. What you enter arrives in our mailbox. We do not store these submissions in a database on the website.
The newsletter
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we process your email address and, if you provide it, your name. Every newsletter contains an unsubscribe link.
Use of the website
If you consent through the cookie banner, we use Google Analytics to measure how the site is used: which pages are visited, for how long, and through which channel you arrived. If you do not consent, this measurement does not take place.
The legal grounds we rely on
- Handling orders and bookings: performance of the contract you enter into with us.
- Keeping invoices and accounts: legal obligation.
- Sending the newsletter: your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
- Measuring website use: your consent through the cookie banner.
- Asking for a review after your visit: our legitimate interest in improving our tours.
- Answering forms: performance of the contract, or your request to be contacted.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell your data and we do not pass it on for third-party advertising. We do rely on a number of service providers who process data on our behalf:
- PAY.nl for payments in the web shop.
- Sendmyparcel, with DPD as our main carrier and bpost and PostNL alongside it, for shipping your order.
- Mailchimp for sending the newsletter.
- Google for Analytics, only after your consent.
- Microsoft for our mailboxes and the files in which visits are planned.
- Our web host for storing and running the website.
- Our accountant and accounting software for invoices and legal obligations.
We also disclose data where the law requires us to.
How long we keep your data
- Orders, invoices and anything touching the accounts: seven years, as the law prescribes.
- Newsletter subscription: until you unsubscribe.
- Forms you fill in: not stored on the website; the email stays in our mailbox.
- Brewery visit details: two years, after which we erase the name, email address, telephone number and remarks from our planning file.
- Website measurement data: fourteen months in Google Analytics. A technical log of sent email is erased automatically after six months.
Once a period has passed, we delete the data or render it anonymous.
Cookies and measurement
On your first visit, a banner asks whether you consent to cookies that are not strictly necessary. As long as you do not give that consent, we place no measurement cookies and no measurement data is sent to Google.
Strictly necessary cookies are always placed: they keep track of your basket, remember your language choice and store your cookie preference itself.
You can change your choice at any time through the link at the bottom of every page. Which cookies are placed and what they do is set out in our cookie policy.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- access your data;
- have it corrected if it is wrong;
- have it erased, as far as we are not legally required to keep it;
- restrict or object to the processing;
- receive your data in a readable file in order to transfer it to another party;
- withdraw a consent you gave, without that making what happened beforehand unlawful.
Write to info@oudbeersel.com. We answer within one month. To avoid handing data to the wrong person, we may ask you to prove your identity.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority, Drukpersstraat 35, 1000 Brussels, contact@apd-gba.be.
Security and where your data is held
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data. The website runs over a secure connection and access to our systems is limited to the staff who need it.
Our website and our mailboxes are held with service providers inside the European Union. Some of our providers, including Google and Mailchimp, are established in the United States or process data there. They do so under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the standard contractual clauses laid down by the European Commission.
This policy may change when our practices or the law change. The version on this page is always the one that applies; the date at the top shows when it was last amended.
